Interactive College Show Turns Welcome Week Into a Joy-Filled, Interactive Spectacle
Welcome Week is your campus’ first chance to spark connection and community — and the right entertainment can make all the difference. That’s why colleges across the country are choosing “Mind Games: Music is Hypnotic” as the ultimate interactive college show to kick off the year.
While many people appreciate the novelty of a live hypnosis show, the most common criticism of hypnosis shows over the past twenty years is, “If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen ’em all.” Mind Games breaks the mold of entertainment hypnotism and brings it into the 21st century.
This isn’t your average sit-and-watch performance. It’s a high-energy, music-powered, student-driven experience that invites every person in the room to play a part. Whether they’re on stage or in the crowd, students are part of the show.
A New Kind of Hypnosis Show
With over 20 years of experience as a hypnotist — and a background as a former residence hall director — Paul Ramsay has designed an interactive college show that speaks to the real needs of college students: connection, laughter, and joy without cringe or discomfort.
In “Mind Games,” the hypnosis itself functions differently from the old traditions. In the old tradition, the hypnotist picks some of the people who want to be hypnotized and brings them up on stage. In “Mind Games” every person who wants to be hypnotized is invited to explore hypnosis while still sitting in the audience. This takes away some of the pressure of being up on stage, and it also lets the people in the audience who don’t want to be hypnotized witness the hypnotic transformation of their neighbors in real time, up close and personal.
But that’s just the beginning. What else sets this interactive college show apart is the real-time feedback, music integration, and crowd participation that keeps students actively engaged from start to finish.
How It Works
- Students vote live during the show to help shape what happens on stage. They are given a pin number that gives them access to the polling system, and they vote using their phones. This allows audiences up to 1,000 people be fully engaged and have a say in how the show develops.
- Volunteers participate in fun, upbeat hypnosis experiences with no embarrassment. The goal is to give them a shared experience, like the joy of singing together at a concert or feeling united by a favorite sports team.
- Music drives the energy, creating a shared vibe that makes the night feel like a party with purpose. Regardless of where they come from, music is that unifying factor we can all connect through, and it’s beautiful to watch when it happens.
From the opening beat to the final cheer, students aren’t just watching — they’re immersed in something they helped create.
Why It Works for Orientation Week
Welcome Week is about helping students feel like they belong and getting them connected so they start developing their new support networks. “Mind Games” helps that process by:
- Breaking the ice in a big, positive way
- Encouraging peer-to-peer interaction
- Creating a memory students will talk about all semester long
- Setting the tone for an inclusive, vibrant campus culture
